Initially dismissive of Sakuragi, who calls him "Gori" due to his imposing physique, Akagi soon recognizes Sakuragi's potential as a basketball player. Known for his seriousness and discipline, Akagi dreams of leading Shohoku to the national championship. His determination is evident when he continues to play against Kainan despite a severe ankle injury.
