Kouga Taichi, also known as Kouga the Kicker, was a member of the Techniques Trio with Takeda Ikki and Ukita Kouzou in Ragnarok. Unlike the other two, he did not join the Shinpaku Alliance. Kouga is an average-height young man with short dark hair and a headband. He dresses in a white shirt under an open blue one, along with shorts that have pockets. His appearance has a slightly feminine touch, and he sports a long earring on his left ear. In the anime, Kouga appears much shorter than in the manga.
Unlike Takeda and Ukita, Kouga harbors intense grudges against Kenichi, whom he plans to defeat personally, and Miu, whom he nicknames "Neko Shojo" (Cat Girl). He showed no genuine concern for Takeda or Ukita and had no qualms about beating them up after their betrayal. Despite being a formidable fighter, Kouga often displays a carefree attitude, which frequently results in beatings from Kisara.
Kouga exhibits unwavering loyalty to Ragnarok and eagerly metes out punishments to those who betray the gang. He can be seen as ruthless and somewhat sadistic; for instance, he planned to break Ukita's arm by snapping it with a falling-axe kick but was thwarted. Even some of his own men thought this was excessive, but Kouga justified it by claiming it would be fun since Ukita had thrown him into garbage.
Kouga first appears when Takeda expresses his desire to fight Kenichi. Later, Kouga and his gang encounter Kenichi and Miu while they are shopping. Kouga takes an interest in Miu but develops a grudge against her after she defeats his men and kicks him. Kenichi then fights Kouga, delivering a shallow punch that causes Kouga to lose balance and fall, defeating him. Subsequently, Kouga gives Takeda a farewell beating for leaving Ragnarok and is shocked to see Ukita betraying them by throwing Kouga into trash. When Ukita is caught, Kouga plans to break his arm but is stopped by Kenichi's punch.
The next day, Kouga laughs at Kisara's loss to Miu. He joins Kisara to sabotage Miu's play but gets defeated again by Kenichi when he shows up to stop them. After Kisara's gang joins Shinpaku, Kouga is forced to get along with the alliance members. However, he secretly works as a double agent for Loki. When he tries to give Niijima soda laced with laxatives, Niijima sees through the trick and forces Kouga to drink it himself. Kouga runs away needing a bathroom. His current whereabouts remain unknown, but with Ragnarok disbanded, it is likely he either remains a thug or has been forced back to school.
