Tae Sekihara is the manager of Akabeko, a restaurant specializing in beef hot pot (gyunabe or sukiyaki). She is approximately 20 years old. Tae has a twin sister named Sae who manages a similar restaurant called Shirobeko in Kyoto. Sanosuke owes her a significant amount of money, with interest included. In the anime, and to some extent in the manga, Tae has also tried to encourage the relationship between Kenshin and Kaoru, as she felt it wasn't progressing well.
