Kenshin Himura, known in the anime as Hitokiri Battousai or Himura the Battousai, is the main character of the series "Rurouni Kenshin." His birth name was Shinta. Orphaned at a young age due to cholera, he was briefly cared for by three slave women before bandits killed them. Seijuro Hiko, who rescued him from the bandits, adopted and renamed him Kenshin, meaning "Heart of Sword," and began teaching him the Hiten Mitsuruugi Ryu sword style.
However, before completing his training, Kenshin left to join the Imperialists during the Japanese Revolution. Witnessing the suffering around him, he felt compelled to act. During this time, he met and married Tomoe, his first love (refer to "Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal" OVAs). His exceptional speed in drawing his sword earned him the title of Hitokiri Battousai.
After ensuring the victory of the Imperialists, Kenshin renounced killing and received a reverse-blade sword from Shakku-dono. The death of Tomoe by his hand solidified his vow never to kill again. Ten years later, Kenshin reappears as a wandering swordsman helping those in need, eventually arriving in Tokyo where he meets Kaoru Kamiya, leading to significant changes in his life ("Rurouni Kenshin" anime).
Kenshin is often portrayed as a carefree and somewhat simple-minded swordsman when it comes to everyday life. He willingly takes on chores like cooking, cleaning, and laundry at Kaoru's dojo as a way of showing gratitude for her hospitality. Despite his casual demeanor, his swordsmanship skills are elite, allowing him to defeat numerous rivals, with the exception of Hajime Saitou, whom he fought to a draw. His battle senses are sharp, enabling him to recognize even the slightest tactical advantages.
