Cecilie's older brother, Stoffel, was once the regent of the former Maoh. He was expelled from the castle when Yuri arrived, due to his attempts to forcefully assert his influence over the kingdom. His own nephews distrusted him, as he had instigated the last war against the humans. Seeking to regain his authority, Stoffel kidnapped Yuri and tried to convince him that his three nephews were merely using him to control Shin Makoku. This act nearly led to a civil war with his nephews attempting to rescue Yuri. Fortunately, with Yosak's assistance, Yuri escaped, thus averting the outbreak of war. As punishment for waging war, the Maoh sentenced Stoffel to house arrest in his own castle and lands. Later, he attempted to regain Yuri's trust by celebrating his visit, but the plan failed when his sister returned instead. By the end of the anime, Stoffel has abandoned his power struggles and has become a loyal noble, willing to fight and protect the Maoh against Soushu's armies.
