Sonomi Daidouji is the mother of Sakura's best friend, Tomoyo Daidouji, and the first cousin of Sakura's late mother, Nadeshiko Kinomoto. She is known to be a wealthy woman and the President of a large toy corporation. Sonomi had deep affection for her cousin Nadeshiko and was against her marriage to Fujitaka. She later blamed Fujitaka for Nadeshiko's untimely death at a young age. It is suggested that during the marriage, Nadeshiko was somewhat estranged from her family. Sonomi has Tomoyo maintain her long hair as it reminds her of Nadeshiko.
