Shuichi's initial ambition is to emulate his idol, Ryuichi Sakuma, the lead singer of Nittle Grasper, by forming his own successful band called Bad Luck.
At first, Eiri Yuki treats Shuichi with cold indifference, but Shuichi persists through Yuki's harsh demeanor and eventually they start a relationship after Shuichi helps Yuki overcome his tragic past involving Kitazawa Yuki. As Shuichi's band gains popularity, much of the series focuses on his struggle to balance his career demands with his pursuit of Eiri's affection.
Shuichi has an innocent and energetic personality typical of the uke stereotype. This trait is emphasized in the anime, where he often goes into super deformed mode, disrupting serious scenes. Despite his hyperactivity, he demonstrates determination and perseverance when focusing on his goals, such as achieving chart success with Bad Luck and aggressively pursuing Eiri Yuki.
