Kazehaya is an outgoing and friendly classmate of Sawako, and he is also her sweet and supportive friend. His popularity among girls was such that during middle school, a group called the "Kazehaya is Everyone's" Alliance was formed by his admirers to maintain peace among themselves. More than half of these girls now attend the same high school as Kazehaya. He has had a long-standing interest in Sawako and admits, though not to her, that he likes her, often getting jealous, unaware that she harbors the same feelings for him. During their second year of high school, Kazehaya begins to wonder if Sawako actually likes him when she doesn't give him chocolates on Valentine's Day, not knowing she was too nervous to do so. This leads to a period where he seems depressed and often wears an expressionless face. However, after being confronted by Ryuu (influenced by Chizuru) and Pin, Kazehaya goes to Sawako. His friends jokingly remark that he likes her, but Kazehaya takes it seriously and agrees, confessing directly to Sawako. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, he believes she has rejected him. By chapter 41, he finally manages to confess his true feelings to Sawako, and they officially start dating.
