Makimura Shiori is a brilliant scientist serving as the Chief of Development for the Humanoid Nursing and Battlefield Weapons Department, as well as the Advanced Technology Development Division at Mikado Hyper Energy (M.H.E) Electronics Corporation. Her expertise lies in computers and mechas. Her development team is responsible for creating Nursing Robot Eight and various other mechas featured in the series. Her talent is so remarkable that she has even constructed a mecha while half asleep.

In volume 3 (or episode 21), robot Eight proposes to her to be his girlfriend, and she agrees. In volume 7 (or episode 23), Shiori is assigned to teach at Hakuō Academy because her superiors feel she lacks emotional depth. Despite being a genius, her robot designs, particularly Eight, often have significant flaws, leading to her transfer to Hakuō. Another shortcoming Makimura has is her forgetfulness; she frequently forgets crucial details, such as omitting to install a critical control chip in one of her mechas, which resulted in catastrophic consequences.
