Nagi is the sole heiress to the Sanzenin fortune. She's not your typical "rich girl." Describing her as merely "rich" would be an understatement. The "Sanzenin fortune" is so vast that tossing away 20 trillion yen on a frivolous investment is considered a joke.
Nagi has a short fuse, is spoiled, anti-social or socially withdrawn, hates losing and admitting her mistakes, and struggles significantly with expressing her true feelings towards Hayate or anything else. She acts immature most of the time but is fundamentally a good, educated girl. Despite her wealth, she excels at finance and enjoys learning. Her mind operates independently. She cares for her family and friends but doesn't show her concern directly. Instead, she uses formal language to express her worries. Nagi is a tomboyish, tsundere hikkikomori princess. Due to the dangers associated with her status, she prefers staying indoors. Disliking company in general, she resides separately from her grandfather in a "small" (compared to the main Sanzenin estate) mansion with minimal staff. Although she leads an Otaku NEET-like lifestyle, she is intelligent enough to skip three grades at school, which happens to be one of Tokyo's most prestigious academies. She has an otaku-level passion for manga, anime, and video games and even creates her own manga.
Her otaku-level enthusiasm is such that she has submitted entries to numerous amateur manga competitions, though she hasn't won any. Her only surviving family member is her grandfather, whom she dislikes, so she considers Maria as a mother or older sister figure and warns Hayate never to touch Maria indecently or she will never forgive him. Nagi has a crush on Hayate and has mistakenly believed that he loves her.
