She recently recovered from a two-year coma caused by a traffic accident. Before the accident, she had two personalities: a male personality known as SHIKI, and a female personality known as Shiki. In the Ryougi family, children are typically male and raised with two personalities; hence, the male personality is traditionally called the "yang" personality, while the female is termed the "yin" personality. It's easy to distinguish which Shiki is speaking due to distinct speech patterns, particularly when the female Shiki refers to herself using the pronoun "watashi," whereas the male Shiki uses "ore." After waking from her coma, Shiki realizes she can no longer sense the presence of the male Shiki and assumes he perished due to the accident. She also experiences a detachment from her memories before the accident, feeling uncertain about her identity despite knowing she is Shiki. Hoping to reclaim herself and the deceased Shiki, she adopts a cold demeanor reminiscent of the female Shiki.
