Ritsuka's older brother, Seimei, was seventeen when he was supposedly murdered under mysterious circumstances. His body could only be identified through dental records. However, it was later revealed that Seimei had faked his death, though the identity of the person who died in his place remains unknown. Seimei is also the sacrifice in the Beloved pair. Soubi, given to Seimei when he was just fourteen, mostly at Seimei's request, became his fighter. There are fan speculations about a rivalry between Seimei and Ritsu over Soubi and possibly other matters, but these remain unconfirmed within the series. When Ritsuka lost his memory, Seimei took on a crucial role in his life, protecting him from their abusive mother, Misaki, and becoming a source of comfort and trust. Consequently, Ritsuka was devastated by the news of his brother's death and harbors intense bitterness and vengefulness towards those who might have been involved. Seimei's personality is a subject of much debate among readers, with varying interpretations of his actions. The characters in the story also hold conflicting views: Ritsuka, Soubi, and Misaki remember Seimei as kind, gentle, and loving, while others describe him as cruel, merciless, and hateful. They claim Seimei was distant and obsessive, refusing to eat in the presence of others. Recent flashbacks reveal a more disturbed and obsessive side of Seimei, even hinting at borderline incestuous behavior towards Ritsuka. Later chapters suggest that Seimei suffers from mysophobia, an extreme fear of contamination by dirt or germs, based on his obsessive cleanliness and refusal to consume homemade food due to perceived "dirtiness."
