Saya is the central character who combats chiropterans with a katana. She is hinted to be the last surviving vampire, referred to as "the only remaining original." Unlike traditional vampires, Saya has no aversion to sunlight, though it remains unclear if she possesses other common vampiric weaknesses. She does, however, become visibly upset when exposed to religious symbols and reacts angrily when God is mentioned in her presence. Saya exhibits heightened senses, immense strength, along with cleverness, resourcefulness, and exceptional skill.
The manga series proposes that she is a hybrid of human and vampire. Her exact age is a mystery, but an image from the film depicts her among nine others dated 1892, labeled with the word "vampire." Despite her general disdain for humans, Saya seems to hold some level of respect for David.
