Sasuke can occasionally be easy to identify, but he is one of many indistinguishable male ninjas in the series. These ninjas are often seen wearing various outfits, yet they never remove their masks. Onsokumaru and Shinobu appear capable of distinguishing between them. While these ninjas share several traits with Onsokumaru, they tend to be more compassionate and thoughtful, striving to behave nobly and wisely. They frequently act as if they share a collective consciousness, though they are easily distracted and accomplish very little. There is ongoing debate about whether these ninjas might actually be a single individual utilizing the well-known "clone technique" ("bunshin no jutsu").
