Sara's shy classmate and best friend, Ruri harbors a crush on Setsuna. However, Setsuna finds her old-fashioned because of her thick glasses. When Katan is attacked by Kurai, Setsuna, Sara, and Ruri are caught in the chaos. Setsuna chooses to protect Sara over Ruri, which leads to Ruri being blinded by shards of glass. Feeling bitter and blaming Sara for her condition, Ruri offers herself to Rosiel in exchange for Sara's death. Her latent psychic powers help reawaken Rosiel through the video game Angel Sanctuary, resulting in her absorption by him. Rosiel uses her appearance to attack both Setsuna and Sara. Ultimately, Ruri lets go of her hatred towards Sara and saves her life. At peace, her soul departs.
