Ruika is a fifteen-year-old girl who holds the power of Global Garden to grant wishes. Until now, she has strived to live as her younger brother Masato, who perished in a plane crash years ago. She does this for her mentally unstable mother, who refuses to acknowledge that it is Ruika who survived. Ruika's overwhelming desire to please and protect her mother has influenced her physical development, keeping her appearance androgynous. Later, when she meets Hikaru and Robin, she begins to embrace her identity as a girl and starts to change, alternating between her female and "male" form based on her emotional state.
Ruika is also known by the names Verdandi, representing her present form, Skuld, symbolizing the future Ruika and referred to as a goddess, and Uld.
