Robbie was Martin's friend and the owner of Stern's Diner in Frankfurt, a place Martin often visited. Despite their playful bickering, Robbie grew fond of his regular customer, even though Martin frequently complained about Robbie's inability to remember his usual order. Robbie was aware of Martin's criminal activities but kept this information to himself.
One day, Robbie noticed a man, whom he incorrectly identified as "Vietnamese or Chinese," visiting the diner in search of Martin. He informed Martin about this, leading to the revelation that the man was looking for the woman Martin was protecting—his former fiancée, Eva Heinemann. Later, when Martin was shot while trying to protect Eva from members of the organization he worked for, Robbie drove the injured Martin to Dr. Kenzo Tenma, a fugitive doctor, for treatment. Before Martin died under Dr. Tenma's care, Robbie listened to Martin's story.
