The Chief of Deadman Wonderland. He is the true primary antagonist of the series. Despite being bedridden and confined to his room, guarded by two albino twins, his influence looms large. Due to his frail state in an old man's body, the day-to-day management of DW prison is handled by Tamaki. Interestingly, he is also a Deadman. He meets his demise at the hands of Shiro, after challenging her Wretched Egg persona to a fight. However, it is later revealed that Hagire isn't actually dead; he had transferred his memories to Sakigami Toto and now occupies Toto's body. In the past, Hagire was in his original body and was the head of the research facility where Ganta's mother, Igarashi Sorae, worked. They led the research on the Nameless Worms and conducted experiments on young Shiro. While Sorae was tormented by guilt over the inhumane experiments, Hagire showed no concern for Shiro's well-being and often pushed the experiments forward with sadistic pleasure. The pain from these experiments forced Shiro to create the Wretched Egg persona (which she called "Ace Man," a hero who saved the weak in TV shows she and Ganta watched together), and developed the ability to control blood. Hagire's interest in Shiro skyrocketed after the Wretched Egg appeared, and he began to aspire to be like her. His branch of sin appears as tentacle-like whips, which he uses wildly and randomly. However, when he transfers to Toto's body, he gains Mockingbird's branch, Love Labyrinth.
