A private investigator hired by Hans Georg Schubert to look into the alleged suicide of Edmund Farren. His alcoholism, which began after he shot a criminal, caused his wife and daughter to leave him. Since then, he had been striving to rebuild his life and reconcile with his family.
Upon encountering Johan Liebert after discovering his tombstone, Johan lured Richard to the roof of a building, discussing his role in killing a criminal during his last case. Johan manipulated Richard into a profound state of regret, then offered him a bottle of whiskey. It remains unclear whether Richard accepted the bottle or not. Richard was later found dead after falling from the building, presumed to be an accident. However, it is hinted that Johan may have murdered him and staged it to look like a fall. One clue supporting this theory is that Johan left behind a broken bottle of whiskey, even though Dr. Reichwein knew that Richard only drank scotch. Both his wife and daughter were seen mourning him at his funeral.
