A half-Japanese officer with light chestnut hair, Dee's partner. Shy and sensitive, he lost both parents at the age of eighteen. Though he may seem a bit absent-minded, he is remarkably mature and his focus sharpens when it matters most. Early in the story, he takes in the young Bikky to live with him, requiring all his intelligence to keep the boy out of trouble. Often, he attempts to deflect Dee's advances, but with little success.
Ryo is uncertain about what he truly desires, yet he clearly cares deeply for his partner. He feels uncomfortable being constantly addressed by his Japanese name, as it implies a level of intimacy he isn't comfortable with. As a very private individual, he finds it challenging when Dee insists on using this name, leading others to adopt it too, gradually forcing him to be more open. Highly suggestible, Ryo frequently reflects on advice given to him by others, sometimes questioning his own self-perception, which can lead to feelings of depression.
Ryo has a great love for children and tries to surround himself with warmth and affection. Compassionate and frugal, he saves diligently and enjoys flowers. He has a clear vision of how he wants things to be, but Dee's casual attitude towards tidiness and unpredictable behavior often disrupt these plans. To those who don't know him well, Ryo appears friendly and shy, but Bikky or Dee sometimes break through his composed demeanor, revealing a more violent side that upsets him. This aspect seems to contribute to why Dee makes him uneasy.
