Asagi is Sachie's grandfather and the leader of a yakuza gang. The kanji character for "Rai" in his name, Raizo, translates to thunderbolt in Japanese. He is a man who values integrity and honor. His gang members are fiercely loyal to him because he has provided a home for many who had nowhere else to turn. His favorite food is a hamburger with egg. He keeps his daughter Yukie's room exactly as it was, and anyone who enters it faces severe punishment. When his daughter chose to leave, he told her she would no longer be an Asagi and would be considered dead to him. Upon learning of his daughter's death and that she left behind a granddaughter, he decided to take the child in. One of his hands is missing a pinky finger.
