Potemayo is a mysterious creature that appeared one day in Sunao's refrigerator. The name Potemayo combines the first two syllables of "potato" (ポテト, poteto) and "mayonnaise" (マヨネーズ, mayonēzu) — reflecting what Sunao was eating at the time. Initially, she could only speak the nonsensical phrase "honi," which she frequently repeats even after learning a few words like Sunao's name.
Potemayo is fiercely protective of Sunao; if anyone tries to approach him, she will growl and attack until they back off. When out with Sunao, she rides on his head. She has the personality of a young child around two or three years old but possesses a super deformed body, complete with cat ears.
Potemayo flies into a jealous rage when Mikan tries to get close to Sunao. She is also telepathic, at least when it comes to sensing thoughts about her Sunao, and becomes violent when she "hears" Mikan thinking about Sunao. A small chick named Tori, meaning "bird," often accompanies Potemayo and usually sits on her head.
