He is the only other recurring character and serves as a prime example of the series' surreal tone. Postino, a mail carrier who rides a motorcycle, seems to have a delivery route that spans the entire world. He invariably appears at crucial moments in each episode, just when Jing needs assistance. Postino rides up, delivers a vital clue or plot exposition, and then speeds away, not to be seen again for the rest of the story. He both parodies the Deus ex machina plot device and exemplifies the surreal and sometimes illogical world of Jing. In the original manga, Postino appeared only once, in the "Amarcord" story. However, he makes two appearances in the Twilight Tales series, once in volume one and again in volume five.
