kashiwazaki nenji

Kashiwazaki Nenji, known as Okina, is a formidable fighter and skilled strategist. He is reputed to be the only one who can match the former leader of the Oniwabanshū in combat, using steel tonfa to deflect sword strikes. Although chosen to be the next leader, Okina declined, arguing that it was time for younger members like Aoshi to take charge. Instead, he became an intelligence agent in Kyoto. After retiring, he gave up his fighting lifestyle, though he did engage in battle with Aoshi. Now, he lives peacefully in Kyoto at the Aoiya, the former headquarters of the Oniwabanshū which has since been converted into a hotel. Here, he raised Misao. Despite his age, Okina maintains a sharp mind and remains well-informed about Kyoto's affairs through the active intelligence network of the Oniwabanshū. He uses this network to assist Kenshin in locating Arai Seikū and Hiko Seijūrō. Okina enjoys drinking games and admires beautiful women.
