suzuki mitsuko

Mitsuko is a high school student with an unsettling presence that seems to attract girls to her. She encourages her followers, whom she calls "[her] children," to engage in self-harm as a way to express their emotions, and then suggests a mass suicide. Saya views her as a close friend and mentor, and is deeply affected when Mitsuko dies while she survives. Her real name is Yoko Suzuki, with "Mitsuko" serving as a title that is passed down. Initially, the title was held by Keiko Ota from Yoko's former middle school, who led a similar "suicide circle" and died in a group suicide attempt where only Yoko survived. After transferring to her new school, Yoko also adopted the name "Mitsuko".
