makishima misaki

Misaki is an average 14-year-old schoolgirl. She easily makes friends and is very protective of those she cares about. Recently, she moved from Tokyo City to her late grandfather's house by Hohoro Lake. Misaki barely remembers her early childhood there, as she was only a small child when she last visited. Lately, she has started experiencing flashbacks of playing in her grandfather’s lab while he conducted experiments.

One day, while walking home with her new friend Sanae, Misaki gets hit by small toys resembling the Loch Ness monster. Sanae explains that these are associated with the local legend known as Hohopo. Curious about who threw the toys, Misaki goes to investigate and ends up slipping down a hill. There, she discovers the real-life version of Hohopo staring at her from the lake.
