The Great Seraphim Metatron is a young child who holds deep affection for Sevothtarte, also known as Lailah, and calls her "Sevy." To him, she embodies a motherly figure, and he retains faint memories of her singing him to sleep in her form as Lailah. His twin brother, Sandalphon, has never existed as anything more than a mass of flesh and eyes within what is referred to as the 'Cradle.' Sandalphon was created as part of an experiment to replicate the powers of the Seraphita. Unlike his twin, Metatron lacks wings and appears to have no powers, yet he houses Sandalphon's soul within himself. Despite his apparent lack of abilities, Metatron is the only one capable of controlling Sandalphon and serves as the seal that keeps his powers in check. To prevent Sandalphon from awakening, Lailah had Metatron take certain pills. However, when Metatron is taken out of her care, the new caretaker neglects this task, leading to Sandalphon taking control of Metatron’s body. After Sandalphon is expelled, Metatron is mortally wounded by Lucifer in an attempt to destroy Sandalphon’s true form. Miraculously, Metatron is revived and saved after receiving a visit from Sevy’s spirit, which reassures him of her love. He reflects that her warm touch felt more real than the throne of heaven.
