Matthieu is the laid-back, afro-haired pilot of the Terminus typeR606. He has a passion for music and often appears bored. Matthieu is responsible for gathering information from and maintaining contacts with ref boarders and DJs. Early on, he was one of the few members of Gekkostate who showed sympathy for Renton, although he also played his fair share of jokes on him.
Matthieu and Hilda frequently behave like a married couple, despite not having any such relationship beyond their frequent arguments. Hilda directs Matthieu as if he were her husband, and Matthieu treats Hilda as if she were his wife, even calling her "honey" regularly. They watch each other's back closely, usually with Hilda warning Matthieu about something.
