A Newtype candidate from the Flanagan Institute, Marion was a former Zeon civilian who wanted to assist Professor Chlust Moses. Eager to end the war, she eagerly joined the EXAM Project. However, she soon discovered Professor Moses' fear and hatred of Newtypes. To give Oldtypes an edge in battle, Chlust developed the EXAM System, which enabled a Newtype pilot to achieve victory. As a Newtype herself, Marion became a test subject for the system. During one of the test runs, an accident occurred, trapping Marion's soul within the EXAM System and leaving her body in a comatose state. Consequently, any pilot using an EXAM System-equipped mobile suit would temporarily possess Newtype abilities due to Marion's presence within the system. Despite this, she is not entirely isolated and frequently tries to communicate with the pilots using the mobile suit and the system.
