Klaus is a protagonist who serves as a foil to Dorian and later becomes his love interest. He works as a West German intelligence agent within NATO. Known by the nickname "Iron Klaus" given by adversaries due to his impressive record of successful missions, Klaus's tasks include preventing international crises and gathering intelligence. His operations are often complicated by Dorian's interference. Initially, Klaus responds to Dorian's flirtations and declarations of love with aggression and overt homophobia. However, there are moments when Klaus is cordial towards Dorian, especially after they collaborate effectively on missions. Klaus leads a team of 26 subordinates, each named after a letter of the alphabet. The characters A, B, G, and Z feature most prominently in the series. A holds the position of second-in-command, B is depicted as a clumsy comic figure, G has a fondness for cross-dressing, and Z, being the youngest, is Klaus's favorite. All members of Klaus's team operate under the constant fear of his anger and threats of being reassigned to Alaska.
