Lupa is a homemaker and bookkeeper for Purio. While Purio is mainly her partner in the Mamodo battle, Lupa also views him as a substitute for her son, who passed away from a heart condition shortly before she encountered Purio at his gravesite. Seeing this Mamodo boy as a replacement for her own child, Lupa does everything necessary to love and protect him from both the tournament's dangers and his own naivety.
Lupa indulges Purio to ensure he gets what he desires (even if it means using spells to achieve this) and occasionally uses his powers for selfish and malevolent purposes. She is prepared to put herself in harm's way to shield him from adversaries. However, there are numerous instances where she exhibits cowardice similar to her Mamodo, employing his spells as a method of escape and survival for another day.
