Lio Shirazumi first appears briefly in the second chapter/film of "Kara no Kyoukai" as an older schoolmate of Mikiya Kokutou who dropped out of school because he "found something he wanted to do." He is later seen dining at a diner with Mikiya, where they bid each other farewell. Gender: Male Height: 165cm Hair color: Brown/Golden Blonde In reality, Lio is the true culprit behind the murders from 1995-1996, and he reappears as the main antagonist in the seventh chapter/film. Initially, Lio stalked Shiki Ryougi due to his crush on her. After confessing his love to Shiki and being rejected, with Shiki describing him as a "weak person," Lio internalized her words. Determined to prove his strength, he challenged a local school bully, which resulted in Lio murdering and eating the bully. Subsequently, Souren Araya approached Lio, offering to awaken his origin in exchange for Lio's consent, promising that Lio would become a "transcendental man." After awakening his origin, Lio embarked on a murderous campaign from 1995 to 1996. He psychologically manipulated Shiki into believing she was responsible for his crimes, driving her to near-suicide. This led Araya to halt Lio's activities, deeming him a failure for disrupting his plans. In 1999, after Araya's death, Lio resumed his murders. He formed a cult-like drug trade and began distributing modified drugs soaked in his blood, hoping to awaken others' origins and find a murderous companion to share his burden. Lio targeted Shiki and Mikiya, driven by his love for Shiki and past friendship with Mikiya. He confronted them separately, trying to convince them to join him. In the climax of the seventh chapter, both Shiki and Mikiya reject Lio, leading to Shiki killing him in a final battle, believing Lio had murdered Mikiya. Due to his origin of "Consumption" (literally translated as "to eat"), Lio's body mutated, giving him superhuman reflexes and a cannibalistic instinct, causing him to slowly lose his sanity. Over time, his eyes became more reptilian/feline with a red-orange hue, and his hair turned golden blonde. By 1999, he developed retractable claws and was implied to have gained the ability to regrow lost limbs.
