Lena is introduced as the first significant character in "Mai-Otome," though her name isn't revealed right away. She was a renowned Otome, highly skilled and powerful, but she chose to relinquish all of that to bear a child. Lena was the original owner of the Blue Sky Sapphire. During a raid on Windbloom Castle, she was injured and sent the baby princess of the Windbloom royal family down a river along with the Blue Sky Sapphire. Shortly after, she was captured by Aswad's forces and killed. Sergay Wáng, then an exchange student visiting the palace, observed Lena and developed a crush on her.
Lena is Arika Yumemiya's mother. After her death, Schwartz stole her body to power the Valkyrie system. Arika destroyed the container holding Lena's body and, in doing so, obtained the full power of the Blue Sky Sapphire.
In "Mai-Otome 0~S.ifr~," Lena is 16 years old and serves as the Meister Otome for King Bruce Blan Windbloom II of Windbloom. Initially, she wears a different Meister GEM called the Lofty Crimson Jade, which has a bow as its Element. Lena attends school and is good friends with Elliot and Raquel. She fears her overwhelming power as an Otome and tries to avoid materializing whenever possible. After rescuing Sifr from Kiddo, Lena takes care of and protects her, and they become close friends. Lena uses the alias "Rena Yumemiya." Her enemies call her the Monster of Garderobe due to her incredible power. During a fight with Schwartz's cyborg M-9, her GEM cracks under the strain of her power. Lena's new Meister GEM, the Blue Sky Sapphire, matches her abilities. Her new Element is a crystal spear known as the Blue Sky Sphere.
Lena bears a HIME-like mark on her chest, making her a true HIME who has manifested a true child and element named Artemis. Additionally, she is related to the Searrs Family, giving Miyu a reason to protect her as the inheritor of Alyssa's bloodline. Lena also manifests a set of golden wings, similar to those seen in Miyu's visions of her ancestor, Alyssa Searrs.
