Kyouya became a host to support his mother and sister after his father committed suicide due to a loan he had guaranteed for a friend. In *Tsumasaki ni Kiss*, Kyouya is the top host at Club Sonic, one of the Yasobe Group's properties. He persistently flirts with Homura, despite constant rejection. When he discovers that Homura's promise to date him if he earned the top spot was just a lie to motivate him, Kyouya is heartbroken. Ultimately, he decides to quit being a host after this emotional setback. In *Gravity Eyes*, Kyouya enrolls in law school and works part-time as a waiter. Despite an initial poor impression, Kyouya allows Youji to adopt two stray kittens on the condition that he takes care of them. Unable to hide his feelings for Mamoru, Kyouya ends up staying with Youji and secures a job at a law agency.
