A very cold homicide detective, Kyouya prefers solving cases with his Glock 17 pistol. Fluent in English and somewhat in German, he navigates the bleak, gritty streets of Shinjuku with a no-nonsense attitude. He doesn't tolerate any foolishness and wastes no time on those who can't keep up. His focus is singular: closing the case and ensuring justice is served.
Kyouya's dedication to his job often comes at the expense of everything else in his life. Though not popular among his superiors due to his caustic demeanor, his reputation as the best detective around earns him some leeway. Since his father's death, Kyouya has become emotionally distant from most people, except for Eriko, Hachimaki, Yukari, and Director Narita.
