Ukita Kouzou, also known as Ukita the Thrower, was originally part of the Techniques Trio with Takeda Ikki and Kouga Taichi in Ragnarok. After quitting Ragnarok, he joined the Shinpaku Alliance and became one of its captains but was later demoted to vice-captain due to his weakness and lack of strength.
Ukita is a tall young man with a lean yet muscular build. He has short, spiky brown hair that sticks up, particularly at the top, while the lower half is shorter. A scar under his chin adds to his rugged appearance. He usually wears his Judo outfit for fighting and his school uniform otherwise, always sporting sunglasses. Despite his thug-like look, he possesses kind eyes and was once considered one of the five most handsome men in Ragnarok by Takeda.
Initially, Ukita enjoyed being a thug who won fights using underhanded tactics. His passion for Judo led him to practice it diligently and eventually join Ragnarok. Following his and Takeda's defeat by Kenichi, Ukita transformed into a more honorable and caring individual. He stopped behaving like a delinquent and began fighting to protect those close to him. Since joining the Shinpaku Alliance, he has grown fond of the group and cherishes the time spent with new friends.
Ukita and Takeda share a deep bond as best friends since their days in Ragnarok. They are always there for each other and frequently seen together. Ukita's loyalty to Takeda was evident when he chose to leave Ragnarok alongside Takeda rather than follow orders to eliminate him.
Ukita harbors romantic feelings for Nanjou Kisara. He tries impressing her by giving her gifts like picture books and allowing her to play with his pet cats whenever she wants. He goes out of his way to show how much he cares for her and defends her fiercely, such as shielding her from an attack during a fight against Capoeira team members even though she told him not to.
While Kisara denies having feelings for Ukita, she secretly harbors deeper emotions for him. She blushes when he asks for her help and opposes plans that involve him getting hurt. She worries more about his well-being in fights than anyone else despite her claims otherwise and becomes flustered if others mention her liking him.
Ukita shares a strong connection with Kenichi. They discuss matters Kenichi can't talk about with others, including secrets unknown even to his masters. This demonstrates the trust between them. They also relate over their respective feelings for Kisara and Miu. Ukita has given Kenichi advice on handling Miu, believing they were very compatible. He admires Kenichi's growth as a fighter and man, thinking Kenichi deserves Miu and inspired him to become stronger. Even Ukita's master, Machino, noted his newfound determination.
Being the weakest member of the Shinpaku Alliance Main Force causes Ukita to have self-doubts. During a double date, when he failed to protect Kisara and Shiratori outperformed him, hurting his pride, this pushed him to face Shiratori and prove himself worthy of Kisara's affection.
