Koichi Kimura is a fictional character from the anime series Digimon Frontier. Koichi joins the team as its final member. He was chosen to wield the Spirits of Darkness, which contain the power of AncientSphinxmon. He is Koji Minamoto's twin brother. Their parents divorced when they were very young, so they barely knew each other. Koichi learned about Koji from his grandmother on her deathbed. He tried to catch up with Koji, who was heading to the Digital World, but fell down a flight of stairs and ended up in a coma. His mind was transported to the Digital World by Cherubimon, who saw his sorrow. Cherubimon erased Koichi's memories and gave him the Human Spirit of Darkness, allowing him to exist as Duskmon with a semi-physical form until he was freed from Cherubimon's control by Aldamon and Beowolfmon. After this, he used the purified Spirits of Darkness and fought alongside his brother and the other DigiDestined. Later, Koichi began to realize that his mind was not truly in the Digital World. Whenever the DigiDestined were seriously injured, revealing their Fractal Code, Koichi remained relatively unharmed and showed no Fractal Code. Crusadermon informed him that he was only a ghost within the Digital World, which troubled him towards the end of the series. During the final battles with Lucemon, Koichi sacrificed himself to save the other DigiDestined, giving his Spirits of Darkness to his brother, Koji. The powers of light and darkness within Koji's body helped trigger the final evolution of Koji and Takuya into Susanoomon. In the final episode, it is revealed by Löwemon that Koichi is still alive but badly hurt. As Koji rushed to the emergency room, he realized he was too late to save his brother. However, the other DigiDestined's D-Tector Digivices managed to revive him moments after his death.
