A friend and classmate of Soubi's, Kio is also an art student. In volume 6, he tells Ritsuka, "I'm probably Sou-chan's only friend." Though it is heavily implied that Kio is homosexual, his early interactions are characterized by flirtatious remarks and advances towards Soubi, which are consistently met with gentle disregard or indirect rejection.
Initially introduced as a character who lightens the mood in an otherwise dark story, Kio evolves to gain more depth and significance as the narrative progresses. He becomes a vocal advocate for pacifism and self-worth, standing in stark contrast to Soubi's submissive nature, which accepts violent treatment and a desire for complete control from specific individuals. Notably, Kio's perspectives align closely with Ritsuka's, creating a strong dichotomy that fosters a black-and-white atmosphere, allowing for only one line of thinking.
