Murata is Yuuri's former classmate. He often finds himself in trouble, like getting picked on by delinquents. Despite this, he has a carefree personality and enjoys flirting with girls, bleaching his hair, and becoming overly friendly with Yuuri's mom. He frequently ends up at Yuuri's house just to enjoy her curry. In the first season, following an incident with unstable time and space, Murata accidentally—or perhaps intentionally—ends up in the other world alongside Yuuri. From the start, he raises suspicions because he effortlessly speaks the same language as the villagers. His behavior becomes even more suspicious when he converses with Yozak as if he knows all that's happening and plans the best course of action. Eventually, it is revealed that Murata is actually the reincarnation of the once Great Sage (or Daikenja) of Shin Makoku from 4000 years ago. His role was to guide Yuuri as King to reclaim the four forbidden boxes and defeat Soushu, who at that time resided within Shinou's soul. In the end, they succeed, though Murata had to 'pretend' to betray Yuuri and the others for the plan to work successfully. Murata acts more like a babysitter figure towards Shinou due to their past together, with him being Shinou's most trusted strategist. Even so, he deeply respects Shinou as a leader. Even after dying and being reborn as a different person, his primary concern remains how to defeat Soushu. As the Great Sage, Murata is exceptionally intelligent and wise. He remains calm and never rushes into actions, relying on his strategic mind. While his power alone isn't formidable, he can amplify the Maou's power and has lent Yuuri his powers when needed. Murata is a mysterious individual who often keeps his pain and past hidden from others.
