Jijii is a diminutive, elderly-looking man who leads a small group of exiles. Their goal is to dismantle the infamous Anjou gang and amass as much wealth as they can. To achieve this, Jijii has taken a young man under his wing, whom he calls Ichi. By implanting false memories in Ichi's mind, Jijii has driven him to psychotic episodes. In essence, Jijii has transformed this timid young man into an unparalleled assassin.
Despite the mystery surrounding Jijii, it is known that he is only 35 years old, despite his aged appearance. This look is the result of extensive plastic surgery and heavy steroid use. His ambitions extend far beyond just destroying the Anjou gang. He considers himself a sort of "superhero" of Shinjuku, dedicating his life to maintaining a precarious balance between greater and lesser evils within the town.
