Courtesy name Fengxiao. Guo Jia is the fourth member of the Eight Enigma, a group of genius military advisors chosen by the renowned veteran strategist Sima Hui 'Shujing' from among his students. He is hailed as the 'King of strategic decisions', a title that reflects his exceptional ability to anticipate and plan for almost every conceivable scenario. Similar to his close friend, the Third Enigma Jia Xu, Guo Jia subscribes to the 'Darkness ideology', which advocates extreme cruelty over benevolence as the ultimate means to achieve peace and prosperity. This belief, while enhancing his reputation as Cao Cao's 'darkness', also creates tension with his senior and comrade, the Second Enigma Xun Yu.

Unfortunately, Guo Jia suffers from a terminal illness (possibly tuberculosis), which foretells an early death. Accepting his fate, he initially refrains from serving any lord until Jia Xu convinces him to join Cao Cao, a warlord they both consider worthy. Since joining Cao Cao, his influence has grown rapidly, soon rivaling that of the Yuan clan.
