When God Von Erich announced a tag tournament among the World Supermen Association, Council, and Federation to determine control over the American Choujin world, Jean Steamboard was brought in from France to partner with Beauty Rhodes on The Emperors' tag team. In the first round of the tournament, The Emperors faced off against The Machineguns, consisting of Kinnikuman and Terryman from the WSA. Initially, The Emperors had the upper hand, largely due to Kinnikuman's inexperience in tag matches, but the match ultimately ended in a draw. In the second round, Steamboard and Rhodes battled the Blood Illusions, comprised of Skull Bozu and Devil Magician. The Emperors were hospitalized when Most Violent Combo began cheating; Rhodes was set on fire by Skull Bozu, and Devil Magician stabbed Steamboard with a hidden knife. Despite this, they recovered in time to help Terryman retrieve his artificial leg after it was lost during The Machineguns' match against the Blood Illusions.
