nohara hiroshi

Father of the Nohara family from Akita in Northern Japan, and the sole breadwinner. He met Misae when he was 29, and after dating for about a year, they got married. He is a loving father to his two children and a devoted husband. Although he earns the family's income, he entrusts financial management to his wife, who exercises strict control over spending. At 35, he epitomizes the typical Japanese salaryman: working eight-hour days, dealing with crowded trains, occasionally enjoying nightlife, and giving his entire paycheck to his wife each month. While his relationship with his family is generally positive, frequent conflicts arise. He and Misae often argue over various issues, from his limited personal spending money to whose turn it is to bathe the baby. Misae is known to resort to physical violence against Hiroshi when she becomes extremely angry, usually when his attention strays to younger women. Hiroshi frequently dreams of being a playboy as an escape, but these dreams are often interrupted by external factors. He enjoys a playful relationship with his children, though they can also be the source of his daily frustrations. He loves having a cold beer after work and shares Shin-chan's interest in TV shows featuring young women in revealing outfits, which often excites him more than Misae would like.
