A High Temperature Trooper (HTT) named Hans owes a debt to the secret organization known as "Silver Wheel." As an HT Trooper, he and his fellow soldiers were equipped with flamethrowers and protective suits. However, these suits did not actually protect against flames. The Kauplan Institute concealed this flaw by filling the suits with a fluid containing analgesics.

After the cease-fire, Hans's comrades removed their suits, unaware of the severe burns they had sustained, and tragically died. Hans, having delayed taking off his suit, realized that removing it would mean certain death. Consequently, he has spent the years since the cease-fire confined within the suit.
