Naga's full name is Gracia Ul Naga Saillune, making her the first daughter of Crown Prince Philionel El Di Saillune and the elder sister of Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune. Although Naga is Amelia's older sister, they never meet in the series while aware of each other's identity.
Naga witnessed her mother's murder by the renowned assassin Booley several years before the start of the series. In retaliation, she used the crown princess' original spell, Chaos String, to slay her mother's killer. After the funeral, Naga discovered the flamboyant outfit she now wears inside her mother's closet. Shortly after, she left home to learn about the world.
Being a princess, Naga knows when to be graceful and when to be self-assured. Though she keeps her true identity hidden, she often acts confidently, sometimes arrogantly. The only character from Slayers that Naga truly interacts with is Lina. Naga the Serpent is both Lina's rival and companion through the first four movies and both OVAs. She frequently annoys Lina because, despite being a powerful sorceress, she faints at the sight of blood and is quite clumsy.
Throughout their adventures, Naga and Lina often find themselves on opposing sides and must fight, but they always end up traveling together again. Despite their differences, the pair often work together, and when they do, they make a formidable team.
