Gein is the sole surviving descendant of a small group of individuals who mastered the art of mechanics during the Middle Ages. He constructs puppet-like suits using the corpses of deceased people, most notably the Iwanbō series. Despite his advanced age, Gein possesses considerable strength from years of controlling his heavy puppets. The diamond-edged steel wires (Zankosen) he uses to manipulate his creations can also serve as formidable weapons, capable of cutting flesh and breaking bones. Gein's primary motivation is to test his inventions, which requires him to be around warriors since he believes that the cutting edge of technology always emerges on the battlefield. This belief is what led Gein to join forces with Shishio.
