Fuji is a towering figure, considered an outcast by those around him. One day, he was nearly killed in an attack, but an old man named Saizuchi found him and took him in. Fuji, who was gentle and depressed, became the perfect target for Saizuchi to manipulate his emotions and transform him into an extraordinary fighter. Saizuchi constantly reminds Fuji that he owes him for saving his life, using this debt to control him. Despite his strength, Fuji was easily defeated by Hiko Seijūrō, who spared his life and awakened his true martial artist's spirit, becoming the first person to see Fuji as more than just a monster. After his capture, the Meiji government assigned Fuji to northern Hokkaido, where he was tasked with developing the land and serving as a defensive fighter during times of war.
