Eiji now attends H-university in Sapporo. While he was hanging out with Yuuhei in a restaurant he overhears trouble at a mixer meet up in which Sawako and Ume went so that they could find a new guy for Ume to like. Hearing the name ''Sawako Kuronuma'' he goes to rescue her and Ume from the troublesome guy and Sawako responds "'Brother Eiji?"- revealing that they're cousins.
After catching up and getting introduced to Ume, he gets interested in her. After they talk for a bit, he can't help but enjoy her reactions and he firmly asks her to date him.
