Daisuke is the disgraced elder son of the Mineishi family. He left home ten years ago, declaring his intention to become an astronaut. His father, having heard nothing from Daisuke since, clings to the delusion that Daisuke, now homeless for reasons unknown, is actually an astronaut on a probe sent to explore Planet Remina... despite the discrepancy in their family names.
