Clovis la Britannia is the Third Prince of the Britannian Imperial Family and former Viceroy of Area 11. He exhibits a timid and narcissistic personality, finding it difficult to cope with failure. In his childhood, Clovis frequently played chess with Lelouch; despite often losing, he considered Lelouch a friendly rival. His fond memories of their time at the Imperial Villa inspired him to recreate its garden atop the government complex. A talented artist and designer, Clovis designed the entire Clovis Amusement Park and left behind a significant body of artwork.
Clovis was involved in research concerning C.C. and individuals like her, fearing disownment if this involvement became public. When C.C.'s capsule was stolen by Japanese resistance fighters who mistakenly believed it contained poison gas, Clovis swiftly ordered the eradication of the Shinjuku ghetto to cover up his secret project. After Lelouch acquires the power of Geass, he organizes the resistance to defeat Clovis's forces, confronts his brother, and kills him after extracting information about their mother's death. Clovis is notably both the first to learn that Lelouch is alive and the first casualty of Lelouch's revenge.
Clovis's mother, Gabriella la Britannia, suffered psychological illness following Clovis's death and now resides in Warrick Palace.
